Through the views may not be extraordinary, the huge windows featured by this living room in Toronto designed by Studio JCI are justified in this case because they’re the only source of natural light. To maximize the openness of the space, the color scheme was kept simple and neutral. One of the best characteristics of modern interior design is the clean and fresh look which can be obtained through a variety of strategies. In the case of the Good Residence by Crone Partners this strategy included the use of simple and pure colors, vibrant contrasts and well-defined shapes without unnecessary features. Featuring an impressive structure and design especially as seen from above, this Sunset Strip residence is quite simplistic in terms of interior décor. The living room, for instance, is modest and not nearly as dramatic as one might expect. Yet this doesn’t make it any less extraordinary.
This open concept living space feels airy and inviting at the same time. White walls throughout the home keep the otherwise busy architecture, with lots of corners and hard edges, from being overwhelming or harsh. The look is softened by interesting but subdued colors on textiles. On the formal side of home style, with its moldings, moldings, and more moldings, this traditional space appears fresh and warm with its pinkish-white walls. Although the architectural details are definitely noticeable, they don’t overwhelm the space in more attention-grabbing colors. This bright space is ideal for family gatherings, entertaining, and music. Pale green trim is complemented by the white walls and lovely wood floors. Pale yellow wall mouldings highlight the height of the walls and the interesting curves as walls meet ceiling. Even with its white walls, the living room is simple, inviting, and casually colorful.
Designed to serve as the ideal entertainment and conversation space, this living room by Richard Meier is situated on the 9th floor of an iconic building in London from where it offers sweeping views through the floor-to-ceiling windows that surround it. Most modern living rooms are part of an open floor plan which also includes the dining area. Here, the two are beautifully positioned in a clean design with clear distinctions between functions. The large sectional defines the seating area with its shape. SAOTA architects and OKHA Interiors worked together to design this spectacular residence in Cape Town which has a spacious living room that can open up to the west and the east completely, becoming a sort of pavilion. It’s one of the many modern living room ideas the architects used in their projects.
A small living room doesn‘t have to be a game-changer when you‘re decorating your home. Don‘t think of it as just a tiny space in your home but as a challenge. Brighten up because there are tons of ways in which you can turn this issue into an advantage if you pick the right design. Make a small living room feel more airy with large windows or, even better, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Adapt their design to the style you‘ve chosen for the room. Make the most of the space available with the right type of layout.
