When bold patterns and colors don’t have large-scale colors to compete with (as is often the case with a living room’s color-painted walls), they shine that much bolder and brighter. Which is the whole point of having a statement piece or two, isn‘t it? Clean lines and interesting architecture (such as a steeply angled ceiling, skylights, and wood trimmed windows and doors) are set off fantastically with these white walls. The space itself, though somewhat complicated design-wise, exudes fresh, calm, contemporary style. This natural-lit family-friendly living room embraces the clarity of muted tones and straight and parallel lines. White walls complement the airiness of the glass-windowed walls and refuse to compete with the minimalist vibe here.
The indoor living area and the outdoor swimming pool line up in a design by Marmol Radziner, a project known as Vienna Way Residence. The two zones are separated by sliding glass doors and floor-to-ceiling windows. Even though large and spacious living rooms are usually the most impressive, small living spaces can be interesting too. This one by White Interior Design maintains a simple and earthy color palette. The sofa and the wall unit almost seem like a single piece. The low coffee table and the flooring also coordinate really well. When the living space is limited, the color palette tends to be simplified.
Regardless of the style you want to adopt, the interior design of the living room should be a perfect combination of functional and beautiful. It‘s why every little detail needs to be carefully chosen. We’re talking about color palette, pattern, texture, layout, materials and everything else.
A brown leather sofa is a classical piece of furniture, usually seen in traditional interior designs. But it can also be included in modern or contemporary decors, given the right design. It gives the room a very elegant feel. It’s this particular combination of material and color that has this effect. Leather is perceived as an elegant and even luxurious material. It‘s because it used to be very expensive and only wealthy people could have leather furniture in their homes. Of course, now anyone can afford one but the image remained the same.
