This is the family room proper now. Plus, it has to compete with my beloved (but quite loud) zigzag rug. This table too has an ethnic feel to it, resembling engraved wood. I love the metal details, as well as the drawers would be so empirical. But it‘s a little dark plus heavy for my space. It does not get much additional organic than this. The very polished roots are so extremely tactile. But I could visualize drinks existence easily knocked over on this beauty. Here’s another option for burled wood. Unfortunately, glass is not an option when you have two little boys that love to climb.
Another wood option is a table with a live edge. One day I‘d love a vast dining table like this, but a coffee table would be a good start. Many of the companies that make wood tables also supply petrified stone tables. These are stunning, but perhaps they are superior suited to a further formal living room. This table is beautifully simple, plus the marble fits with my neutral scheme. But, again, stone is cold to the touch, in-conjunction with marble can stain, so it is best saved for a grown‘up space. A shell top has the clean look of marble but in a more stain‐resistant finish.
